5 Easy Steps To Becoming Your Pugs Alpha Leader

becoming your pugs alpha leaderThank you for visiting our site.Today we are discussing becoming your pugs alpha leader. Your Pug refuses to go into his crate? Runs away when you call? You just discovered a puddle or maybe some thing even worse. Percy ‘s got you chasing about like a headless chicken?

Pugs are pack animals. This means that there are leaders and followers. You will not be able to change that. It’s basically how dogs work and it works exceedingly well. Becoming your pugs alpha leader means you make all the calls and your dog follows.

“Americans are very big about loving the dog first, so when you tell them you have to set rules and limitations, a lot of people believe it’s going to hurt their feelings. They’re actually looking for you to be the pack leader.” Cesar Millan

The Role Of Alpha Pack Leader

A lot of people don’t realize that for a Pug even at home you are part of his pack. Also there are also other members of this pack, your kids, another dog, perhaps even a cat. Your Pug regards all these as members if the pack. The Pug  pack leader is there to make all the decisions. Pugs are smart, driven dogs and its hard to train them if you uncertain what you ‘re doing. Becoming your pugs alpha leader is the secret to training these dogs. That’s when they start to listen to you.

“Just being with dogs, I learned their ways and began to appreciate things from their point of view.” Cesar Millan

Kind of complicated, hey!

Perhaps now you can see why you might be experiencing difficulties. It’s swimming upstream and the battle never ends, they never give in, and you’re tired out. It’s all because you are not the alpha Pug pack leader YET !

But stay with me. Here’s comes some good news… I can help.

Will it Be Hard To Do?

Not a bit…. You will have to stay calm and consistent, firm but fair. There will be no yelling, no harmful behavior, and most definitely no need for smacks. These methods formerly associated with being the Alpha pack leader are old school today.

Effective dog training is where  dog owners learn how to really win their dogs mind in a relaxed and gentle way. The dog accepts them as the alpha pack leader through choice, not fear. This new dog training method is  revolutionizing how we work with and train our dogs.

“I have never met a dog I couldn’t help; however, I have met humans who weren’t willing to change.” Cesar Millan

 Becoming Your Pugs Alpha Leader

  1. Always go through a doorway ahead of your Pug.
  2. Eat your own meals before you feed your dog. Make certain your Pug understands the pecking order.
  3. Your Pug sleeps in his own bed preferably in his crate. Pug puppies should not be permitted to sleep in your bed or in your chair. He should stick to a place at a lower level that you.
  4. When your Pug gets in your way never walk around him. Pick him up and move him out-of-the-way.
  5. If  a pug puppy has an accident during house training never clean up his mess in front of him.

These basic steps will establish your dominance. This is not being unkind to your little Pug. The dog will appreciate learning exactly what you expect from him.

“Dogs die. But dogs live, too. Right up until they die, they live. Most live brave, beautiful lives. A dog protects his family. Our dogs love us. And make our lives a little brighter. They don’t waste time being afraid of tomorrow.”
Dan Gemeinhart, The Honest Truth
