How To Choose A Dog Bed For A Pug

a dog bed for a pugHi, everyone. Thanks for buying so many products through my links. You Rock! Let’s take a look at how to choose a bed for a pug.

Pugs are famous for their uncanny ability to sleep just about anywhere. They are also able to sleep through just about anything. It doesn’t matter how many exciting things are happening in their world. When the urge to snooze beckons, there’s nothing that can stand in the way.

These dogs need their own beds to stretch, relax and enjoy a good night’s sleep. Giving your little friend a bed of her own makes her feel comfortable and safe in your home.

Investing in a bed for a pug means that he/she won’t get too accustomed to sharing yours every night.

You may imagine that choosing a bed for your pug will be an easy process. The selections at Amazon are really mind-boggling, with shapes and styles to fit every dog — and every decor as well.

A Dog Bed For A Pug

You can get a Round Solid Pet Bed,a Deep Dish Cuddler, a Memory Foam Dog Bed or even a Pet Sofa Bed. My kids have a Solid Memory Foam Couch and it keeps their dogs off the sofas in their sitting room when they watch television.

When choosing a bed for your pug I recommend that you go online and browse through some of the options available. That way you will be able to see all the options.

Get reviews from people who have bought these beds. The best savings for dog beds are usually found online.

What shape dog bed is best for your Pug will depend largely on the position in which your dog likes to sleep or rest. So, watch the dog over a few days to see the position he or she gets into during rest periods. Assess what shape of bed will be most suitable.

When you’re for a dog bed for your pug, you need to take into account that not all dog beds are equal You may in fact find that your dog has some preferences of its very own.

Bolster Dog Beds

Suede bagel dog beds are good for pugs who love to sleep with their head cradled on an armrest or a pillow. If your dog tends to lean on the edge of his/her bed, you’ll want to get abolster dog bed

Mats & Pads

Sleek and supportive mats and pads turn any uncomfortable spot into a place to bed down. Usually foam-constructed, these beds are an economical way to give comfortable rest in the home or on the go.

A Memory Foam Dog Bed Pillowwith Orthopedic Comfort + Waterproof Liner is soft and comfortable. They offer all the support that any dog could need. Elderly dogs often have difficulty getting on and off a downy, snugly type bed. A firm, supportive mattress-type bed is the best choice for them.

Whatsoever the size, weight or age of your dog, memory foam technology allows for the total support of every joint and muscle. Another benefit is that memory foam beds reduce pervasive doggy odors .

Deep Dish Cuddlers

A Deep Dish Cuddler suits a pug that likes to sink deep into a high-walled nest or overstuffed pillow-ball. An all-time favorite for smaller breeds and other little snugglers.  Dogs that curl in while sleeping, will very likely enjoy a do-nut shaped dog bed.

Orthopedic Memory Foam Dog Bed

Built to protect aged or ailing joints an Orthopedic Mattress Pet Bed  will give the most support with medical-grade foam and/or box spring construction. An orthopedic memory foam dog bed, which conforms to your dog’s shape but provides support for aching joints is the best option for older dogs.

Here are my picks :

  1. Modern Chic Trellis Cat or Dog Bed by Trendy Pet
  2. Cozy Cave Pet Bed
  3. Best Friends by Sheri OrthoComfort Deep Dish Cuddler

When choosing a dog bed for a pug try to buy the best quality bed you can afford!

It’s best to choose quality dog beds made from durable materials. Get one that can resist scuff marks, bites from sharp teeth, drooling saliva or any other abuse. If you choose a quality bed your dog will be able to use his/her bed for years to come.

Getting The Correct Size

Recommended Size For Pugs:

Pug Shoulder Height 10-14 Rectangle 21″ x 36″ Oval 21″ x 36″ Round 36″

Measure your Pug with a tape measure to have a clear idea about the size you should get. A dog bed is a significant purchase which is why you should choose one which is the right size for your little pal.

If your dog curls when sleeping, measure her in that position at the longest point. Add 7 inches to your measurements. If your pug likes to stretch out when he/she sleeps, measure the dog in a stretched out position. Add 12 inches to that number to make sure the bed will be big enough for her.

How To Clean An Extra Smelly Dog Bed

Choose a fabric that will be easy to clean. Pick a dog bed for a Pug with removable covers, or those that can be tossed whole into the washer.

In case you have had problems before with a smelly dog bed read on.

1.0  If you see a  tag on the dog bed, read it carefully

Some beds have a “don’t use heat to dry. Others caution against making use of strong detergent to keep the color and quality of your cover. If that’s the case, follow the directions for the cover only. Don’t be concerned about the fill material being “mistreated. It’s going to be covered by a nice slipcover in the end. Your main aim is to get rid of the smell.

2.0 Soak your dog bed with or without the cover

This will  depend on the type you have in a tub with hot water and laundry detergent. You can add a stain-remover product. Choose one without bleach or ammonia, (both could cause allergic reactions in your dog) The water should cover the bed completely. You may need to place something heavy on top so it will sink. Soak it in your tub overnight and add a touch of vinegar to the water.

3.0 Remove the dog bed from the tub and place it in your washing machine

If you’re going to wash the cover and filling separately, be sure you not to use very hot water for the slipcover. this will prevent a problem with shrinking. Hot water is perfect for the filling or if you’re washing the whole bed at once.

Wash once using vinegar instead of detergent. This will help kill the bacteria causing the strong smell. Then wash again using laundry detergent and color-safe bleach. The bleach will kill any strong odors you wouldn’t be able to get out with just soap. Add softener for a touch of flowery smell.

4.0  Let your bed air-dry, preferably in a sunny spot.

When it’s dry, check the smell. You may need to repeat the process for very strong smells that refuse to go away.

Take a little time selecting a dog bed for your pug. You will notice positive changes in your dog’s behavior when you give her a comfortable place to rest and sleep.

A well-rested dog is a happy dog. Do you have any comments about this page that you’d like to share? Please take a moment and share your thoughts, ideas, comments, or suggestions for everyone to read.
